A wild waterfowl day in Sullivan County!
This morning I headed out early after seeing a post from Zach Schwartz-Weinstein that he had found a juvenile Snow Goose at Morningside Park. It was still raining, and I was hoping for the goose and maybe something more. I … Continue reading

A bit on the quiet side.
Following a couple of good days of migration, today was a bit quiet. I didn’t manage to find a single new arrival though I checked some of the lakes up county and the Bashakill. All of the interesting birds that … Continue reading

The Bashakill Area Associations early spring Waterfowl Walk and more!
This morning I led my annual walk for the Bashakill Association. It was cold, windy, rainy and sleeting! That said, three intrepid birders joined me for what was a really enjoyable walk! We had an abundance of waterfowl highlighted by … Continue reading

Things continue to amp up at the Bashakill and around the county.

Evening Grosbeaks continue in Sullivan County. They have been seen on both Blue Hill and Woodard Roads. The flock on Woodard is by far the most reliable and in much higher numbers recently. Today, I had at least 40 Grosbeaks … Continue reading

Highlights of the Bashakill today.
I spent most of the morning at the Bashakill today. Waterfowl continues to be the big draw. There were at least 14 species of waterfowl present, and probably more. The highlights for me were a newly arrived hen Canvasback (above) … Continue reading

Bashakill WMA!
I have been off the grid for a while with some family health issues. I hope that I will be able to get out more frequently as time goes on. For now, I was thrilled to get out to spend … Continue reading
