Another interesting day

I was out and about around the county this morning.  Purple Finches, Pine Siskins and American Goldfinches abound. I still have a Purple among the Goldfinches at my feeders, but no Siskins today.  The Scoters are officially gone from Yankee Lake too.  There were 87 Ruddy Ducks with some Bufflehead and Goldeneyes on Wanaksink Lake. I had just arrived on Haven Road around noon when I got the alert from Scotty that he had four Evening Grosbeaks at his feeders.  I arrived and had a great look at my first male of the season.  I was just about to take a photo when a Sharp-shinned Hawk flew in and scattered the birds.  The last I was aware, the grosbeaks haven’t returned. Fortunately, Scott and Karen Miller were able to get photos before I arrived.  Lets hope the grosbeak invasion continues for all of us!
