A pretty good morning at the Bashakill.

I headed out before the rain ended this morning.  I eventually reached the Bashakill at 10:30 am after little success elsewhere.  As soon as I reached the access road to the Pine Boat  Launch, I began seeing and hearing birds.  There was a decent fallout of birds, but due to the rain and backlighting, they were tough to ID.  Many went unidentified.  What I did see were 3 Blackpolls, 2 Magnolias, 1 Black and White, 2 Pine Warbler and 1 Black-throated Green Warbler. As usual in the company of the usual Chickadees, Titmice and Nuthatches.  As I moved into the parking area, I spotted 3 SWAINSON’S THRUSH in the grape vines at the back of the parking area.  From there I went to Haven Road.  Here I had Song, Swamp and Savannah Sparrows.  I was joined by Scott Baldinger and we picked up a few ducks, Great Blue Herons, Bald Eagles and a single Common Yellowthroat.  We then headed to the Orchard where we were joined by Karen Miller.  We had another decent fallout there.  I saw 2 Blackpoll, 2 Black-throated Green, 2 Black and White, 3 Magnolia, 1 Northern Parula and a probable Tennessee that got away before I could say for certain.  Also present were 2 Blue-headed and 2 Red-eyed Vireos.  An American Kestrel flew over.  Sparrow wise, there were at least 2 White-throated Sparrows present.  Back on Haven Road, we had our FOS Dark-eyed Juncos, 2 of them. It ended up being a pretty good morning!
