Well, I’m home and back out in the field. I had some catching up to do, but I’m getting there. The Bashakill has only been moderately active since my return, but since I needed so many new year birds that came in while I was gone, I’ve done pretty well. New year birds over the last couple of days have included Louisiana Waterthrush, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Spotted Sandpiper, Broad-winged Hawk, House Wren, Eastern Towhee, Chipping Sparrow and Gray Catbird. Today, I also birded Sullivan Grasslands in Delaware Township where I added my first Eastern Meadowlark of the year. Hopefully, there will be a real boost in species over the next week.
