Bashakill

There was very little change at the Bashakill today, meaning high numbers of waterfowl continue.  The one species that had a significant increase was Ring-necked Duck.  I had 166 individuals today, my highest count so far.  New for the Bashakill were two drake Common Goldeneye seen from Haven Road.  Northern Pintails continue in very high numbers, around 300.  I only saw 24 American Wigeon today, but wasn’t able to go out the Birch Trail due to the rain.  Four Green-winged Teal and the pair of Northern Shoveler were at Moosehead Cove.  A dozen Herring Gulls at Haven Road was a high so far and a 13th was at the Main Boat Launch.  Eagles continue in good numbers.  Wood Ducks, Gadwall, Hooded Mergansers and Mallards and Black Ducks continue about the same.  Surprisingly, since it was raining, many people were out birding today.  Always nice to see that!
