A Little Movement

This morning I worked my way around the water, hoping for some new birds.  Surprisingly, I had a Killdeer at the Apollo, and a Greater Yellowlegs and Pectoral Sandpiper at Morningside Park. We are pretty close to the end of shorebird season and these are good finds for us at this time. Waterfowl was a bit of a disappointment. At the Rondout Reservoir, the only new birds were five Common Loon and a single Bufflehead which was my first this fall.  All the other spots had continuing birds from earlier in the week. With continuing northwest winds tonight, maybe tomorrow will be the break through day. By the way, also at the Rondout were 140 Wood Duck!  This is by far my high count for the county away from the Bashakill.
