Bashakill continues to jump!

Our FOS Northern Shovelers off Haven Road this afternoon.

All of the species that have been being seen the last few days continued today. Some had increased, while others decreased in number. American Wigeon (39) Gadwall (10) and Bufflehead (34) were all at a high today. Ring-necked Ducks number 431. Northern Pintail were down to only 29 birds and Wood Duck down to 125. Mallard and Black ducks also decreased. Lesser Scaup that numbered 80 yesterday were down to a single bird this afternoon. As I watched the ducks on the water, 182 Snow Geese passed over Haven Road. I spotted our FOS NORTHERN SHOVELERS out from the Stop Sign Parking Lot late this afternoon. Scott, Arlene and Lance all got to see them. Raptors picked up this afternoon once the rain stopped for a while. Red-tailed and Red-shouldered Hawks, Northern Harrier and American Kestrels were all seen. While a number of us were watching the Shovelers, a flock of forty Tree Swallows came through. Lance spotted a different swallow among them and we got to see our FOS BARN SWALLOW! Another great day of birding!
