Arlene Borko and I toured the county this morning to start off the new year. While we had nothing exceptional, it was a good day of birding. We covered the Bashakill, Wurtsboro, Neversink River and Reservoir, the Rondout Reservoir, Hunter Road and many areas in between them. We had a modest 43 species for the day. Highlights included: Horned Lark, Common Goldeneye, Cooper’s Hawk, Belted Kingfisher, Bald Eagle, Red-shouldered Hawk, Common and Hooded Mergansers and much more. It was a fun way to start the new year!
