Shawangunk Grasslands NWR

In follow up to my hasty post last evening, I’d like to add some additional information for anyone going to seek the Shrike. First, there is an abundance of other bird life at the grasslands right now. We had probably 7 Northern Harriers, 1 Rough-legged Hawk (light phase), 2 Kestrels, 7 SHORT-EARED OWLS (reported, only one seen by me), Robins, Bluebirds, Waxwings, Titmice, Finches and more. Add to that the Northern Shrike and its one fabulous day of birding! The location of the shrike late yesterday was on the north side of the refuge, just in from the town park. Good luck if you go!
