Rain was definitely a problem this morning at Morningside. I waited it out for a long time, it finally stopped and the sky partly cleared. By the time I was out near the islands taking photos, it down poured for 15 minutes. At least I was well prepared for it. That said, it was another great morning. Some new birds came in and almost everything from yesterday was still there. 12 Least Sandpipers, 3 Spotted Sandpipers, 1 Semipalmated Sandpiper, 1 Semipalmated Plover, 1 Solitary Sandpiper and the continuing Pectoral Sandpiper were all present! No Killdeer today. Rain kept a lot of the other bird activity down. 5 Ring-billed Gulls were new for the fall at this location. With unsettled weather predicted for the next several days, I think it will continue to be good for shorebirds.
