Bashakill

Birded this morning with Karen Miller and with several people this afternoon. Things continued to jump at the Bash today. This morning at the Pine Boat Launch Karen and I had a couple of Pine Warblers, Ruby-crowned and Golden-crowned Kinglets and our FOS BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS. One bird showed well while another could be heard calling high in the canopy. The Vesper Sparrow continued on Haven Road until about noon when Karen and I saw it take off, gaining altitude and flying out the north end of the Bash. Wilson’s Snipe and Killdeer continued. This afternoon I returned to Haven Road and it was still good. I was with Ken McDermott and Lisa O’Gorman when I heard my FOS GREATER YELLOWLEGS! It flew around calling but unseen until I finally located it in the marsh and we all were able to see it. A short time after Ken and Lisa left, Steve Altman came along. As we discussed the birds being seen today, our FOS MERLIN flew past us, at first low and then higher over the marsh giving good views! Another great migration day!
