I returned to the Bashakill this afternoon at 1:30. I immediately relocated the GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE just off Haven Road. I alerted Bruce Nott and Arlene Borko of its presence. Ten minutes later the bird took off with a few geese and landed just out from the Birch Trail Tower. When Bruce arrived, I had the scope on the goose but the distance was too far. We headed to the tower where we immediately found the bird. We got a few shots a little closer. As we watched it, Bruce spotted a PIED-BILLED GREBE, the FOS at the Bashakill. Arlene arrived and we found the goose again in front and across from the Main Boat Launch. As we walked the Birch Trail, a VIRGINIA RAIL began calling emphatically! Scott had found them here last evening! What a great afternoon with a number of new county year birds for all of us!
