A distant shot or our FOS American Coots at the Bashakill.

It was a cold start to the day at the Bashakill this morning. Scott Baldinger, Arlene Borko, Karen Miller, Bruce Nott and I enjoyed some good birding there this morning. First thing, Scott found our FOS AMERICAN COOTS out from the Pine Boat Launch Tower. Through the course of the morning, we all got to see them. A nice list of waterfowl with some decent numbers. Mallard, Black Duck, Wood Duck, American Wigeon, Northern Pintail, Common Goldeneye, Ring-necked Duck, Green-winged Teal, Common and Hooded Mergansers were all seen as well. All the usually expected species were seen as well as 5 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, also found by Scott at the Deli Field Boat Launch. With temps predicted in the sixties and seventies this coming week, our first Tree Swallows can’t be far off.
