Bashakill

Solitary Sandpipers were moving through today. Here one is on the Pine Kill where it flows through the Deli Fields.

Bird numbers were down somewhat today. Warblers especially seemed to have moved on, with the exception of the breeding species. Yellow, Black and White, Pine, Northern Waterthrush, Common Yellowthroat, American Redstart and Ovenbird continue in good numbers. Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green and Blue-winged Warblers were the only other species seen and only three of the first two and one of the third. Shore birds were moving, I had a total of six Solitary Sandpipers and one Greater Yellowlegs. A late Rusty Blackbird is still present. My only FOS species today were Chimney Swifts at the Deli in Westbrookville and a SORA in the marsh from Haven Road.
An occasional late Rusty Blackbird can still be found at the Bashakill.
