Migration in full swing at the Bashakill this morning.

Haven Road was alive with activity this morning, most in the form of passing migrants. Eight Great Blue Herons flew over in one flock, continuing on northward. Red-winged Blackbirds passed continually throughout the morning in flocks of ten and twenty birds. Song Sparrows had arrived overnight. There were seven on Haven Road, the first since early winter, and another seven at the Deli Fields. Well over 100 Ring-billed Gulls were present this morning, but only one Herring Gull was among them. A lone Turkey Vulture was soared over the Deli Fields. Among the many waterfowl present, a flock of ten RING-NECKED DUCKS flew in right off Haven Road, followed shortly by our FOS GREEN-WINGED TEAL. The continuing Bald Eagle spectacle produced 17 Bald Eagles this morning, the same count as yesterday. Most of these eagles are again across from the Main Boat Launch. Common and Hooded Mergansers, Wood, Mallard and Black Ducks and Canada Geese were all abundant.
