Shawangunk Grasslands Northern Shrike – no

This morning, Matt Zeitler and I were both trying for the Northern Shrike found by Ken McDermott yesterday. There were a number of other birders present as well as the grasslands “Guardian” Ralph Tabor. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain most of the time and there was no sign of the shrike. A nice consolation prize was getting to see lots of raptors. Rough-legged Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, Northern Harrier and 9 SHORT-EARED OWLS were seen by me. A few passerines were present as well. I think that tomorrow my be a better day to try for the bird. It will be clear and sunny, though cold. Thanks once again to Ralph for all his efforts at the grasslands!
