Odds and ends again!

A very polite bear neatly folds down my fence, mashing it to the ground, so he won't get caught up in it as he tears down my feeders.

It was an odd morning, nothing really seemed to click, but eventually everything fell into place. I was trying to get out the house to meet Karen Miller at he Bashakill. I was running late and looked out the window to see a bear taking down my feeders. I only feed in the morning, giving the birds enough to last until mid-day. The bear has caught on and this is the second time this week he has shown up in the morning. He usually comes through in the evening, finding no food, but wrecking things anyway. At any rate, I got rid of him and met Karen. She then showed me a photo she had just taken of a bear walking along Haven Road. I guess they are all really active this week. We finally got around to walking the Orchard and Stop Sign Trail. It was much more of a Butterfly day than a bird day. We had both Appalachian Brown and Eyed Browns, Northern Pearly-eye, Summer Azure, Cabbage White, Eastern Comma and White Admiral. The Canadian Lilies are in bloom and we had many blossoms along the trail past Moose Head Cove. We saw a couple of Garter Snakes, and a surprise was looking overhead and seeing a Water Snake dozing in the branches above us. It was another pleasant morning walk at the Bashakill.
