This morning I picked up Arlene Borko and we headed back to Rondout Reservoir hoping yesterday’s water fowl would still be present so she could get them for the new year. We weren’t disappointed. Though there were only four birds present, they were indeed the Greater Scaup and the Redheads. Today I was able to get a few pics through the trees along the road. Back at the Power House, there were ten Common Goldeneye, Mallards, Blacks, Common and Hooded Mergansers. We didn’t find much elsewhere. When we were headed back to Wurtsboro I decided to do a short trip along the Neversink River at Bridgeville. We immediately found the drake Red-breasted Merganser. Hopefully all of these good birds will hang in there for this weekends “Winter Waterfowl Count”.
