A beautiful dark-phase Swainson’s Hawk near Julesburg, Colorado 9/9/13

Well you guessed it, I’m on the road again. Renee Davis, Marge Gorton and I left New York on Saturday heading for Colorado. We will be spending the next couple of weeks touring the Rocky Mountain state. We arrived in north east Colorado around midday today. We birded areas around Julesburg. We covered the grasslands just east of there and the Julesburg Reservoir. We had a great number of birds. Highlights included : Swainson’s Hawk, Red-headed Woodpecker, American White Pelican, Baird’s Sandpiper, Western Grebe, Lark Sparrow, Lark Bunting, Western Kingbird, Say’s Phoebe, Franklin’s Gull, Black Tern and many more. For anyone wishing to follow our trip, just click on Colorado ’13 in the above index. Hope you enjoy our adventures in the Rocky Mountains.
