Five Semipalmated Plover at Morningside Park

Five Semipalmated Plover at Morningside Park

Even though there have been some good northwest winds the last couple of nights, not too much has changed. There have been seven species of shore birds between Apollo and Morningside Park. All the expected species: Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Killdeer and Semipalmated Plover, Least, Spotted and Solitary Sandpipers. At the Bashakill, there have been a few mixed species flocks of migrants. Baltimore Oriole, Scarlet Tanager, Canada, Chestnut-sideded, Blue-winged Warblers and Ovenbird. A good showing of thrush at the Nature Trail the last couple of days. 5-6 Wood Thrush, 12 Veery and a few Robins are all enjoying the grapes and Elderberries as well as many other berries I am not familiar with. The Deli Fields have had many sparrows and Indigo Buntings as well as Cedar Waxwings. Belted Kingfishers seem to be everywhere.
