Back in New York, I decided to head out to check for shore birds at Morningside Park. Lance Verderame had some shore birds this week at Apollo and I thought perhaps something new might have come in. Conditions at Morningside haven’t quite reached ideal yet, but they are progressing as expected. Eight Killdeer and five Least Sandpipers were the only shore birds present this morning. I will be checking this spot regularly, especially on days with northwest winds and thunderstorms. I will keep you posted.

  1. Welcome home John, great shot of the Least Sandpiper. I still haven’t been out to Morningside Park, but I will try to get there soon. I did pretty well with shorebirds last week out at the Liberty Loop – Least Sandpipers, Killdeer, Spotted Sandpipers, Pectoral Sandpipers, Greater Yellowlegs, and a Solitary Sandpiper (in two visits, not all at once).
