Wood Ducks are not effected by the flooding.  Wood Ducklings were seen good numbers, at least thirty, and many adults.

Haven Road remains impassible. The waters have probably not actually crested yet. It continued raining through about 5am today. The nesting marsh birds have suffered complete loss of nests. The water is now feet above the nest levels. I was able to see 21 Common Gallinule, 1 Virginia Rail and 1 American Bittern this morning. Red-winged Blackbirds suffered extensive losses as well. I did find three intact nests and one clutch of recently fledged chicks barely able to fly. Hopefully some of the birds will be able to re-nest.

    Dana and I were at Eastern Neck NWR in Maryland and had the same thing – toadlets EVERYWHERE.Never saw anything like that before.
