Today, Renee Davis, Marge Gorton and I traveled north to Montezuma NWR. We birded the entire area, covering Wayne, Cayuga and Seneca Counties. We had a great day, adding several new year birds and enhanced our county lists considerably. Of the 76 species seen highlights included: Black Tern (17), Sandhill Cranes (family 4), Trumpeter Swans, Prothonotary Warbler, Redheads, American Bittern, Common Gallinule, Pied-billed Grebe(with 4 chicks) American Coot, Green Heron, Marsh Wren, Great Egret. It was a great day.
