Today Ed VanBuren and I returned to Great Vly and Saugerties to try for the Sandhill Crane and a second look at the King Rail. We were successful with both. A bonus was hearing two Least Bittern also at Great Vly. Common Gallinule called most of the time we were there as well. We ran into Ken McDermott, Danny Messina and Bruce Nott there too, always nice to see these guys. We all had great looks at the King Rail when it crossed the road. Over on Churchland Lane in Saugerties, the Sandhill Crane couldn’t have been more cooperative. What a beautiful bird.
