Another great morning at the Bashakill

This male Canada Warbler was in the same small group with the Mourning Warbler

Thought I had a really great shot of this Mourning Warbler, but not quite. Still always good to get any shot of this species

Cold with strong north west winds discouraged me this morning, but upon my arrival at the Bashakill my opinion changed quickly. Today was quite possibly the best day so far this spring. Once again I managed 20 species of warblers and 8 sparrow species. FOS species for me were LINCOLN’S SPARROW and MOURNING WARBLER! Even though it was quite birdy, there were still no big numbers of any species. This should all bode well for the Orange County Mearn’s Bird Club Break 100 day beginning at 4pm today. Good luck to all who are out there!

We had a golden-winged warbler on the 17th not far from a Canada warbler, between Haven Rd and the large parking lot. Both lifers for my son. Missed the Mounring though. Still it was a good day.
