This morning there were some distinct changes at the Bashakill. Duck numbers had dropped considerably overnight. While most species were still present, some were down to a few individuals and others like Ring-necked Duck was down to probably 100 from many hundreds earlier in the week. Haven Road had a number of Killdeer and my FOS Wilson’s Snipe. Song Sparrows seemed to have come in in big numbers, having 25 on Haven Road, 15 on the Stop Sign Trail and a couple of dozen at the Deli Fields. Smaller numbers were scattered about the kill. Yesterday’s high count of 48 American Wigeon were down to a mere two birds this morning. Eastern Phoebes and Tree Swallows continue to increase and were seen in several spots.
