Bashakill Annual Wonderful Water Fowl Field Trip

This morning 19 participants joined me for my annual Water Fowl field trip. We had a great morning though the wind and cold made it somewhat of a challenge. We had a dozen species of ducks as well as Canada Geese and Mute Swan. We missed a couple of species that were reported but that we couldn't connect with. The highlight of the morning however was a gorgeous adult NORTHERN GOSHAWK !!! (see photo below) Seen well by all, this species is much sought after by birders. Matt Zeitler, who was a participant was able to get a nice shot of the bird as it circled overhead on Haven Road. Thanks Matt for sharing a photo with us.
