Three Tundra Swans at the Camel Farm 3/9/13

This morning, Arlene Borko and I were birding around the Bashakill. A number of our friends were out and about as well. We were at the Deli Fields when I received a text from Rob Stone informing me that the Ross’s Goose was relocated at the Camel Farm. I think it was Matt Zeitler who found it. Arlene and I headed down. We arrived to find a couple of dozen birders, many part of a Mearn’s Field Trip searching for the Ross’s. There were about 2,000 Snow Geese present, and I was told about 1,000 had flown off a short time earlier. I spotted the bird almost immediately and Dennis Murphy was able to get a great look just prior to all the birds flushing. This was a plus, since when they all settled down, the ROSS’S was the closest goose to us on the entire pond. Everyone had great looks at the bird. There were also three TUNDRA SWANS present as well as quite a few Green-winged Teal, Mallards and Canada Geese. Another great morning!
