Back in the day when there was an influx of Common Redpolls in the county, I got lots of them at my feeders. One winter I had 52 spend exactly 60 days at the feeders. The last several years however, I didn’t even have one during the irruptions. Today, I looked out and had one bird feeding, only to be joined shortly thereafter by another, a pair. They stayed about half an hour before flying off. Half an hour later they returned. I hope they will be staying a long time since the numbers in the county continue to build. Nice end to the year, hopefully they will start off the new year tomorrow.
