Bashakill Deli Fields and Woodbourne

This morning I spent about an hour scanning the large numbers of waterfowl in the fields and on the river in Woodbourne. Continuing tremendous numbers of waterfowl, especially Canada Geese and Mallard Ducks keep me hopeful that something good will show up. At least 1,000 CAGO and 400 – 500 MALL continue. Among them today I saw only a few Black Ducks and the two continuing Snow Geese. From there I went to the Deli Fields at the Bashakill. Here I found the continuing tremendous numbers of Passerines. I saw at least 30 COMMON REDPOLLS, my highest count at any one location so far this fall. 87 House Finches, 100+ Dark-eyed Juncos, 30+ American Goldfinches and 50 American Tree Sparrows represent the species in big numbers.
