Bashakill 7/3/12

The Eagle fledgling was the only one posing for pics today. 7/3/12

After several days of home repairs, I finally got out on the Bashakill again this morning. It was good to be out there, but the heat had things pretty quiet. I did hear one Least Bittern in the curve on the way to the Eagles Island, had one Green Heron and two Common Gallinules. Once again I heard the Pied-billed Grebe vocalizing at the south end of the Bash. Wood Ducks were pretty much everywhere. The recently fledged Eagle chick was very cooperative for photos again today. This evening, the heat continued to be a problem as Arlene Borko and I completed the last count for the Canada Bird Studies Marsh Bird Monitoring Survey. Between our three locations we had two Virginia Rails, two Common Gallinules and heard another Least Bittern.
