Spring Migration

The last week since my return from Florida has been eventful birding. I have added 30 new species for the year in that time. Highlights have been many Brown Thrashers, sparrows and especially wood warblers. I have seen Northern Parula, Yellow-rumped, Pine, Palm, Black and White, Yellow, Black-throated Green and Blackburnian Warblers as well as Louisiana Waterthrush. A major influx of species is due any time this week. Black Bears are on the prowl. A couple have been reported at the Bashakill, and I saw a 200 lb bear at Yankee Lake yesterday. Lots of things happening. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the Bashakill clean up this past weekend. A great bunch of people who once again did a great job of ridding the Bashakill of trash.
