Summitville Hawk Watch

80 Double-crested Cormorants pass the Summitville Hawk Watch. 10/16/11

Today, 10/16/11, was one of our best days this season. We had our first GOLDEN EAGLES of the season (4) and a total of 10 species numbering 87 birds. Three Peregrine Falcons was good for one day. Besides the hawks, a number of other species had a good migration day. Robins, Blue Jays, Canada Geese, Northern Ravens and American Crows all had modest flights. Double-crested Cormorants had a big flight with 150 birds passing in two flocks. I’ve attached a photo of 80 of the birds as they passed the tower.
